Learn from the best

A highlight of Ekka is the opportunity to be inspired by Queensland's best and brightest chefs. Learn new spins on classic meals, pick up tips on plating, and share in the chefs' culinary magic.

There are two stages featuring cooking demonstrations at Ekka this year.

Brisbane Markets Kids in the Kitchen

Brisbane Markets Kids in the Kitchen is free - but spaces are limited and can fill very quickly.

Kids don white chefs' hats and aprons as they step into the kitchen with a professional chef. Your children will be shown how to make delicious meals, including a yummy vegetarian pizza, and then get to eat what they make!

The Brisbane Produce Market will run kids cooking classes for primary school children to promote healthy eating. Classes have space for 32 children and run for about 30 minutes. Hop in line about 10 minutes before the session is due to start to be sure your little chef has a place in the class. Parents and family are encouraged to watch, learn and also participate as their children prepare delicious recipes.

Classes are held daily at 11am, noon, 1pm and 2pm, except on the first and last days of Ekka. On the first day of Ekka, classes will start at noon and 1pm only, and on the last day of Ekka classes start at 11am and noon only.
