There are lots of ways to get to Ekka. Avoid traffic and parking hassles by catching public transport.

 

Public transport

To find the most efficient way to get to Ekka, visit TransLink to use the Journey Planner. You can also call TransLink on 13 12 30, seven days a week, 24 hours a day.

Trains: CityTrain arrivals and departures platforms are located in the middle of Ekka. A loop service operates between Roma Street, Central and Fortitude Valley stations. Trains leave these stations every 10 minutes from 8:20am, returning frequently until 10:00pm. The train ride to Ekka takes about 10 minutes from Central Station.

Buses: A number of bus stops are located around the perimeter of the Showgrounds. They are:

  • All buses drop off through Gregory Terrace, outside the Old Museum.
  • All buses pick up area is at Costin Street.

Taxi ranks

Ekka is a short taxi ride from the Brisbane CBD. Taxi ranks can be found on:

  • Anderson Street between Diggles Court and Gregory Terrace
  • O'Connell Terrace, next to Bowen Park
  • Costin Street near main entrance Gregory Terrace (for disabled access taxis only)
  • Alexandria Street at St Paul's Terrace (for disabled access taxis only).

If you decide to drive, please park legally! Brisbane City Council enforces all parking regulations and issues fines for illegally-parked vehicles. Unless signed otherwise, the Brisbane Central Traffic Area including the area around the RNA Showgrounds allows a two-hour parking limit between 7:00am and 6:00pm Monday to Friday. The two-hour time limit applies between 7:00am and noon on Saturdays.

Parking is available at:

  • Victoria Park, Bowen Hills (access Gilchrist Ave) Operated by Brisbane City Council. Operational from Monday 25 July to Monday 22 August 2011 inclusive. Parking for approximately 800 cars. Parking available Centenary pool side of Gregory Terrace, 300 spaces
  • Fortitude Valley State School, St Paul's Terrace, Fortitude Valley, operated by the Fortitude Valley State School P & C Association. There is parking for about 400 cars
  • Wilson Parking, cnr Herston Road and Gilchrist Avenue, Bowen Bridge Road outside Royal Brisbane Hospital
  • Astor Terrace Car Park, 28 Astor Terrace, Spring Hill
  • Kings Parking, Warner Street, Fortitude Valley
  • Kings Parking, 545 Queen Street, Brisbane
  • Lend Lease Parking, 410 Ann Street, Brisbane
  • Metro Car Park, Butterfield Street, Herston
